FSPHP Represents at Capitol Hill: A New Chapter for Physician Health Advocacy
|
Today in Washington, D.C., the Federation of State Physician Health Programs (FSPHP) proudly stood among nurses, doctors, and healthcare advocates at the Healthcare is Human congressional briefing—an event that spotlighted the urgent need for mental health support for those who care for us all.
Led by actor and producer Noah Wyle (of The Pit), the conversation was powerful, emotional, and bipartisan. Noah’s tribute to his mother, a nurse, and his heartfelt commitment to advocating for mental health in healthcare professionals drew standing applause. Personal stories underscored the critical need for immediate, trusted support.
Three key legislative efforts took center stage:
- Reauthorization of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act (supporting access to mental health services),
- Reform of burdensome prior authorization, and
- Relief from crushing medical school debt.
Yet, one truth was clear: there is still not enough awareness about our Physician Health Programs.
FSPHP was there to change that—raising the profile of PHPs, sharing the impact of our work, and personally connecting with Noah Wyle to explore partnership opportunities to amplify our message.
This is our moment. Let’s ride the momentum to elevate PHPs nationwide. Our work matters—and the country is ready to listen.
A video of today’s briefing will be available shortly. Stay tuned!
