FSPHP Advances National Visibility of Physician Health Programs Through ACGME CollaborationMay 2026 FSPHP is pleased to announce that Physician Health Program (PHP) resources are now featured on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s (ACGME) — a private, nonprofit organization that sets and enforces educational standards for U.S. residency and fellowship programs — Learn at ACGME platform, expanding national awareness and access for graduate medical education programs. This milestone reflects FSPHP’s mission to promote physician well-being and patient safety by ensuring that PHPs are recognized as a vital, trusted resource for clinicians and trainees. PHPs serve as a confidential, non-punitive resource that helps clinicians address mental health, substance use, and other health concerns through assessment, referral, and health verification support, supporting early intervention and recovery while maintaining public safety. Developed through the ACGME Affinity Group on Access to Mental Health Care, which aims to improve mental health support for residents and fellows, these materials provide practical guidance on how PHPs support clinicians while protecting patients. FSPHP acknowledges the leadership of Dr. Chris Bundy, FSPHP Chief Medical Officer and Washington Physicians Health Program Executive Medical Director, in advancing this work, along with the contributions of Dr. Stuart Slavin, ACGME Vice President, Well-Being, and colleagues across graduate medical education. FSPHP leadership representatives Dr. Art Hengerer and Linda Bresnahan have been actively engaged in this effort since the group’s inception following the 2024 ACGME Leadership Symposium. The inclusion of PHPs within ACGME’s learning platform represents an important step in integrating physician well-being resources into the training environment and strengthening support systems across the continuum of medical education.
